Channel Academic seeks titles from authors (or agents) on a variety of topics related to the moving image and genre studies (of a variety of media, in print and the moving image), which can be viewed here. If you would like to pitch an idea, or have a manuscript that you believe would be of interest to us, please send us a query or a full proposal to editorial director Matthew Sorrento at msorrento AT channelacademic.com:
Query
In your query you should provide a brief summary of the manuscript. Tell us why it will be unique for the topic and how you are an ideal author or editor for it. We answer most queries within a week. If your idea interest us, we will invite you to send either a full proposal or the complete manuscript.
Proposal
A book proposal contains the following (in either Word or RTF formats):
- A one-paragraph summary of the manuscript (to be written in Chicago Style, with
footnotes); - An outline or Table of Contents;
- Estimated total word count;
- How the book will differ from others on the same topic;
- A summary of photographs or images you plan to include;
- One sample chapter from the manuscript (if requested);
- Projected submission date;
- A list of three-five potential peer reviewers (on the subject on in your field);
- Your CV attached.
